After a lot of research, here are a list of things I look to portray in my own articles.
For my cover pages I look to use -
Big BOLD writing
A range of differing fonts to bring attention to select pieces of information, similar to how Esquire does this by highlighting select wording by the use of font and colour
plain backgrounding to pop the text and main focal point (model)
Blocky font due to the fact that it draws in the correct target audience
Colour that is in some ways similar to the imagery used so that both model and text are focal points.
